Isafjordur

Iceland is truly magnificent!

We experienced the roughest seas ever - ever - last night.  The seas were high, the floors were rolling, and the cupboard doors were banging open and shut.  "Adverse weather" the Captain called it.  It was rockier than the Trans-Canada train!  But this morning, as we sailed into Isafjordur,  the skies were blue and the ocean smooth as glass.

This small town (pop 2,700) in the northwest corner of Iceland is surrounded by mountains and glaciers.  Temperatures, even in July, the warmest month, rarely exceed 10C.  Today was a balmy 9C!  It was a short and east tender into port, and a nice walk to the center of town.
