Monster in the bathtub

How did one, single, solitary earwig find its way into my shower this morning?  There it was, wandering malevolently along the top of the tiles near the shower head.  And where did it go in that short space of time I took my eyes off it to reach for the shower to flush it down the drain?  Shudder ...
